Camera system

To accurately identify glass defects and contaminations in insulation glass  manufacturing, is an important concern. Customers are demanding better glass quality while at the same time the prices for insulation glass are sinking. After the successful introduction of our illumination system in December 2001, we enlarged our product spectrum to include a camera-system for automatic fault-detection.

Station for visual inspection                from Lisec

Station for visual inspection                from Lenhardt

Insulation glass manufacturers like Interpane, Isolar, Pilkington, Saint Gobain, Sanco, AGC, Scheuten, Schollglas and Semco use this illumination system. This system has proved itselves in Germany, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, France and Sweden.

With the camera-system OGI-2000, the same illumination procedure is applied as in our illumination system for the visual inspection station. An insulation glass manufacturer now has a complete system for glass control at their disposal. Because they use the same illumination system, the employees are able to see the defects in the visual inspection system in the same manner as the camera system regognizes the faults.

Camera-system

The camera system is installed behind the washing machine and scans the glass plates at an angle of 6 degree and checks them when they came out of the washing machine. The inspektion level of the camera system is 1,6 m to 2,5 m (If desired, this can be increased.) The glass thickness can be between 3 mm – 10 mm. The width of the glass can be between 0,3 m and 3 m. The glass plate can be coated or uncoated. For defect identification we use the same lighting system as for visual inspection.

The basis for the fault detection rating of the camera system are the German guidelines " General policy for the appraisal of visual quality from insulation glass"

Structured or frosted glass isn`t tested, the camera-system marks this on the monitor-surface.

In development the camera system, we worked together with renowned insulation glass manufacturers to make the system user-friendly.

Performance

Each glass plate is represented as a visibly form on a monitor for the employees. Serious defects appear in red and minor defects in green.

For different quality standarts you can choose different settings .The defect position and defect type is saved for every glass plate which is scanned and can later be used  for documentation purposes.

A sensor sends a signal when the glass plate arrives in the visual inspection system and the next glass plate file will be opened automatically. The user is able to view this on the monitor.

Using a connection from the camera system to the production line, the order information and the measurements of the glass plate are registered. This information in then compared with the actual glass plate dimensions and made viewable for quality control.
The lower border of the monitor shows how many glass plates are still standing between the camera system and the visual inspection station.

When significant defects are discovered, you can see this on the monitor in the form of a red retangle in the bottom right corner. The defect glass plate can be removed for cleaning or sorted out.

Characteristics of the camera system

Lenhardt Production Lines, Lisec Production Lines as well as other lines can be equipped with the camera system.

-    Provides an objectiv appraisal of glass quality results
-    Increase in production as defects in the glas can be identified very quickly
-    Provides various individual settings for glass quality control
-    Documents and stores glass plate quality information for later comparison with        customer inquiries or complaints

The camera-system was integrated 2006 for the first time as an automatic system  in a Triulzi production Line. This computer-guided camera system decides whether the glass plate is defective or not, as opposed to the visual inspection system in which the employee makes the decision. The glass plate is either sorted out  automatically or remains in the production.
